The vision is to create events which allow riders of all levels to participate. In order to bring more people into the sport, we decided to start with a very easy concept, combining athletic performance with fun.

There are many existing banked slalom events world wide. The WSF tour concept is to offer a platform and network within currently existing events, bringing more attention to banked slalom, as well as the individual events.

The podium winners (female and male) from all tour stops will participate in a ruffle. The ruffle will be conducted through online video at the end of the season (beginning of next season). Through the ruffle, grand prize will be an invitation to the Legendary Mount Baker Banked Slalom. Additional prizes will be given to ruffle participants, such as t-shirts and accessories.

Perfect season finale at the CharitySläsh Banked Slalom 2018

The event united the local and international snowboard community in Kühtai

On April 14, 2018, the CharitySläsh Banked Slalom 2018 took place in Kühtai. The charity race for the Wings for Life Foundation attracted 171 starters and many visitors. With fabulous weather and terrific snow conditions for a banked slalom, the riders were celebrated by the spectators and carried to the finish under the tunes of the local DJs InnFayas & Gundada Sound. The atmosphere was excellent.

The race

At 9 o’clock opened the registration. The race started at 11:30 a.m. and lasted until 3:30 p.m. The participants rode in five categories: Groms (under 14 years), Adults (men & women) and Legends (men & women, born in the 70s and older). You could win medals designed and made by a project team member, snowboards by Nitro Snowboards, glasses by Gloryfy Unbreakable, equipment, vouchers and more.

A day full of action!

The food and beverage offer provided all hungry participants – these donated diligently in the donation boxes on site. In the raffle there were great prizes to win. The supporting program was also very well received: the EXPO stands of the exhibitors Nitro Snowboards, KORUA Shapes, The Bakery Snowboards and Freshlines Boards offered equipment for borrowing and testing as well as advice and comprehensive information for all those interested. The unique fun bikes from Hillstrike Snowtrike and the snowskates from Leise Bretter 03 have been extensively tested and were the attraction besides the race. Daniel and Benjamin Mösl from the Yamaha Action Team kept surprising visitors with unique stunts on the skidoo and a paraglider.

Learning effect for the students

The event was organized by five students of the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol as part of the compulsory practical project of the Sports, Culture & Event Management degree program. The event process required a lot of flexibility, spontaneity and communication and served as a perfect lesson for the project team. Project manager and snowboarder Melina Merkhoffer draws a positive balance: “We have reached our goal to unite the snowboard community. The fun of snowboarding and the experience for young and old were in the foreground. We received very positive feedback “.

The Fourth Annual Transfer Banked Slalom was epic!

TBS17

Boom! The Fourth Annual Banked Slalom went off with an absolute bang…and I mean bang! If you were in Thredbo this weekend and took part in the snowboarding celebrations you would know what we’re talking about!

All competitors we’re greeted with perfect conditions on Sunday to hit the course with speed and confidence. It was nothing but blue skies, spring sun and good times up at the all new course location ‘The Playground’. The course offered more long, drawn out turns, allowing for everyone to enjoy the course at their own pace…however by the looks of what went down throughout the day, the only pace everyone had on their mind was…FAST!

TBS17

It sure was one gathering of the tribe as the event welcomed every generation of snowboarder to come and get involved and and have a crack at some fast flying action. From grom women to masters men, everyone killed it both on their board and in spirit.

The Fourth Annual Transfer Banked Slalom was lucky enough to host some of the worlds best snowboarders this weekend off the back of Volcom’s event ‘BOARDSTOCK’. The likes of Terje Håkonsen, Pat Moore and Mike Ravelson showed to give the local boys and girls a run for their money and boy did the locals have to run!

TBS17

In the Open Women, it was Wiki Jones (fastest women in Thredbo) who took out the event with style, grace and most importantly…SPEED! Wiki was closely followed by the shred mum superstar herself, Abish Bright in second place and Amber Arazny flew through the course to take out third place.

The Open Men’s category was stacked deep with heavy hitters as mentioned above. In first place it was the man, the myth, the legend himself, Terje Haakonsen that was crowned king of the Fourth Annual Transfer Banked Slalom. Terje had local shredders Ryan Tiene and Jye Kearney close on his tail, Ryan just snuck in with second place followed by Jye for third.
